Raymond Booth’s career experience is centered on an on extensive background in financial planning, management and competitive marketing skills and economic issues of the business environment. Specific skills developed during his extensive and varied career include business ownership, supervision, training, setting and attaining goals, settling property and casualty claims, liability and public underwriting.
Mr. Booth’s college major was in Industrial Chemistry and Biology at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio from 1963-1967. He furthered his studies in these disciplines at the University of Toronto from 1967-1969.
In 1969 Mr. Booth received a direct appointment as a Bankruptcy Trustee for the United States Federal District Court. Here he handled investigation and closing of bankruptcy cases.
In 1971-1974 he purchased and operated two liquor stores in Detroit. He sold these in 1983. In 1984 Ray founded the Training and Development Centers of America, Inc. Here he served as Vice President and Administrator of National Training (NTC) for the UAW/Chrysler Employee Assistance Program (EAP)/Attendance/Substance Abuse.
In 1995, he founded and operated the North American Interstate Corporation, which held the first minority owned food and vending contract for Chrysler Corp, General Motors and Ford servicing 6200 people per day in their plants and the largest post office in the Detroit area. In 2012 he sold this operation.
In the field of financial services, he not only obtained his health and life insurance licenses but also completed training in in Casualty Insurance, obtained his LUTC certification and was a licensed Securities broker-dealer, both for Mutual Funds and individual stocks. He was affiliated with Prudential Bache.
From 1982 to the present, Raymond has owned, operated and served as General Agent for the Shears Insurance Agency, a full-service property and casualty insurance agency servicing Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
